sswug bi virtual conference now november 5th-7th

SSWUG has been asked by a large number of attendees to compress the event into one three day long event. Rather than 4- 3 day long events. We have a number of changes that are going to happen so that we can make this bigger for the attendees. For one we will extend then on-demand time so for people that are signing up for multiple events have time to see all the sessions. There is going to be some extra added benefits as well. The end result:

This is going to be the largest most in-depth on line event ever held. (40 Speakers, 120 sessions over 12 simultaneous tracks)

Originally the conference was going to be on Sep. 24th-26th. The new dates are now going to be Nov. 5th-7th.

MDX Training november 13-14 and january 15-16

MDX is the fundamental language of Analysis Services: it is the SQL of the multi-dimensional environment. From the expressions that calculate the most valuable business metrics to KPIs, dynamic security, and report queries your ability to effectively use MDX will dictate how much of Analysis Services power you are able to unleash. Yes, it is true that MDX does have a steeper learning curve than SQL but stick with it; once it starts to make sense a whole new world of capability will open for you.

To help you fully realize the power of MDX we've created a two day in-depth MDX training course that will be delivered by Scot Reagin in Denver, CO November 13-14, 2008 and January 15-16, 2009. Other cities and dates will added so check back or contact us for current schedule information.

Taking the Mystery out of MDX
MDX is the language that makes Analysis Services go. Whether you are implementing dynamic security, creating Calculated Members, Named Sets, or writing Reporting Services Queries MDX skills are necessary to create the Cube functionality you need. Though the Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) language can at first appear to be mysterious and complex, there are a few fundamental concepts that form the basis for understanding how MDX works and how it should be used in your solution. In this session we will discuss these fundamental concepts using real world examples and demonstrations.

SSAS 101 Part I
In this session we will explore Analysis Services 2005 to better understand its capabilities and components. Along the way we will design, process, and deploy a cube that is ready for reporting and analysis. After deploying our cube we will browse it using Excel 2007.

SSAS 101 Part II
Starting with the cube deployed in Part I of this session we will explore optimization and more advanced features you can use to make your cube faster, more capable, and easier to maintain.
